What I Think
At Something More Than Love, I believe that giving back is the most fulfilling way to live. True self-fulfillment comes not from what we keep but from what we share—with our time, our compassion, and our willingness to engage in the conversations that matter.
Some of those conversations revolve around death, end-of-life, and ensuing grief. These are topics we, as a society, often avoid—but avoiding them only deepens our fear. I know this because I’ve lived it. My book, Something More Than Love, tells the story of my love with my husband, his battle with a rare cancer, and my journey through loss. Through my experience, I’ve learned that open discussion and shared understanding can make these inevitable parts of life feel less isolating and less terrifying.
This brand is about more than just a book. It’s about fostering honest conversations, embracing the hard topics, and learning together. By facing these realities with openness, we ease our collective fear and find meaning in even the most painful moments.
In that spirit of giving back, more than half of the proceeds from Something More Than Love will be donated to the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill to support research on skull base and sinonasal cancers. This donation is made in memory of David J. Gilbride, honoring his courage and helping to fund advancements that could change the future for others facing these rare and devastating diseases.
